The Ventura Pier

Historic site in Ventura, CA
Built in 1872, the pier was a steamship dock at one time, and during that time an easy way to get to Ventura (paved roads coming much later, of course.) New settlers found the supplies they were looking for and commerce began in earnest with the installation of the pier.
Almost 2000 feet long, it is now filled with a few shops, including a bait shop and Eric Ericsson's restaurant. A great view of the sea and beach of Ventura can be viewed here, as well as the green hills behind Ventura. It's another vantage point of the city you won't want to miss.
Along next to the pier is a hotel and art gallery, the Artists' Union Gallery, plus additional restaurants. This is a great place for a leisurely walk or a quick workout next to nature, and a great view along California street towards the city center. If you're visiting Ventura, then hit the pier and surrounding shops!
